Silver metal “clay” has a fascinating alchemy. The putty-like material is rolled out into thin sheets which can be textured, shaped, modelled and assembled. It is then fired in a small kiln to be transformed into pure fine silver which is then finished with a matt or shiny surface.
My silver designs reflect my fascination for the wealth of textures and patterns found in the natural world. The forms develop as I draw in my sketch book and each piece is individually handmade.
The work is hallmarked with the London Assay office stamps which include 999 for fine silver and my maker’s own mark, REC within an oval. Fittings, chains and ear-wires are sterling silver 925.
